Adding an Image of a Log Fire Photo to a Plan
Dan Baumann, CR
To add an image like this to a Chief plan you need to know a few things about photo editing.
All of the images in Chief like the trees, people, animals, etc are really photographs. The reason photos are used instead of 3D objects has to do with surface count. The more Vector surfaces you have in a plan the longer it takes for your computer to calculate where everything goes in your plan.
With the use of pictures there is no surface count. You get a realistic object that looks good in your plan and doesn't bog down your system.
These type of items only work in the render camera views. To get a tree or other item to show up in a Vector camera view you would need to use a 3D model of an object.
The logs were added to this plan by first opening the picture in a photo editing program. I use Ulead "PhotoImpact 12 - photo editing software". It's a great program and costs less that $100.00. In the photo editing program you have to select the area that you don't want to show up in Chief and make it a solid color.
Once you add the image to Chief using the "Tools - Image - Create Image" Function you can add it to a library and have it available for all of your plans.
